Judy Kuhn, Melissa Errico and Ryan Silverman are bringing the lovesick and wartorn world of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Passion to life off-Broadway at Classic Stage Company. Set in 19th century Italy, Passion follows handsome soldier Giorgio, who becomes the object of obsessive love from Fosca, his colonel's chronically ill, bedridden cousin. The story unfolds as Giorgio sends and receives letters from his mistress, Clara. Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson headed to the CSC Theater to watch the musical drama unfold, then sketched a portrait of Kuhn as Fosca, Errico as Clara and Silverman as Giorgio. Check out Squigs’ take on this emotional tale, then see the revival of Passion, scheduled to play a limited engagement through April 7.
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
